05 June 2024

On 27-29 May 2024, Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted the National Seminar “Experience in Implementing Climate Management Training and Results of Climate Management Centres” to disseminate best practices in the implementation of the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Synergy of Educational, Scientific, Managerial and Industrial Components for Climate Management and Mitigation”/CLIMAN.

KROK University was represented:

  • Andrii Lotariev – Director of Educational and Scientific Institute of International Education;
  • Halyna Bohachenko – Director of International Project Office;;
  • Anastasiia Shepelia – Project Manager of International Office;
  • Sofiia Venhrynovych  - Head of the “LOTOS” environmental club;
  • Uliana Baturevych - 1st year college student.

The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions, research institutions, government agencies and NGOs from all over Ukraine. The partner universities of the CLIMAN project shared their experience in implementing climate management education, presented the results of the activities of climate management centres and the best practices of their universities in implementing climate projects.

During the workshop, breakout sessions were held to discuss specific issues related to the implementation of climate management in education and the development of climate management research in the European Union and Eastern Europe. In particular, the participants learned what challenges Lviv and Ukraine, as a signatory to the Paris Agreement, are already facing in relation to climate change. With this in mind, they discussed the experience of implementing the European Green Deal at Lviv Oblast enterprises: the city's organic waste composting station, LKP “Green City”, and the construction site for a mechanical and biological complex for the handling and processing of solid waste.

The seminar resulted in the expansion of the climate management cooperation network in Ukraine, raising awareness of climate change issues among educators and scientists, and identifying ways to further develop climate education in Ukraine.
