On November 13-14, 2024, PhD in Law and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of "KROK" University, I.M. Dolyanovska, conducted a facilitator training session as part of the Erasmus+ project Art of Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (Mediation) / ArtNoConflict.
The training aimed to equip a selected group of "KROK" University students and staff with the skills to organize effective communication during conflict resolution and to understand the nature of conflicts. Participants, who will further disseminate the acquired knowledge among youth, mastered techniques of nonviolent communication, negotiation, mediation, as well as principles of anger management and active listening.
Facilitators are specialists who enhance group interaction by creating an environment conducive to open discussions, collaborative decision-making, and problem-solving. They help participants achieve mutual understanding, ensure equal opportunities for expressing opinions, and promote effective communication. Thanks to this training, participants learned not only how to identify and analyze conflict situations but also how to apply practical tools to resolve them, which is crucial for fostering a harmonious educational environment.
During the two-day training, the following topics were covered:
- Conflicts and disputes: How they arise;
- Anger management;
- Understanding positions and interests of both parties;
- Active listening, questioning, and paraphrasing;
- Body language and its role in conflict resolution;
- Identifying true interests in a conflict;
- Creative thinking;
- Mediation: What it is and how it works.
The training was a significant step in preparing facilitators who will continue to implement the acquired knowledge in their work and contribute to creating a more harmonious educational space.
Special thanks to the outstanding speaker of this event for sharing invaluable knowledge and practical experience on this subject, and to all participants for their active engagement!
